We know the teams, the stadium, and the halftime performer, but how will inflation impact this year’s Super Bowl party spread? Using Datasembly’s comprehensive market data, we analyzed some of the most popular game-day snacks and drinks to see how prices compare to last year, as well the impact of inflation on key locations.

For the first time in years, we’re seeing a decrease in overall Super Bowl food costs. The total price for a standard basket of party essentials dropped by 3.46% compared to last year’s 4.0% increase.

While the overall cost declined, some key items saw notable changes:

  • Tortilla chips saw the biggest price drop, down 19.56% from last year.
  • Queso dip and guacamole dip also became more affordable, decreasing by 15.46% and 9.27% , respectively.
  • Colas and potato chips saw the most significant price increases, coming in at 6.71% and 5.52%.

The national average shows a 1.74% decrease in Super Bowl basket prices. Here's how the key cities are affected:

  • Kansas City (Kansas City Chiefs): Fans will experience a 5.1% decrease in their Super Bowl basket costs.
  • Philadelphia (Philadelphia Eagles): Supporters will also see a price reduction, but not quite as much - a decrease of 0.9%.
  • New Orleans (Host City): Similarly to Kansas city, New Orleans consumers will benefit from a 5.1% decrease in Super Bowl food prices.
  • Biggest Movers: The two cities with the highest degree of change in super bowl basket prices vs last year were Oklahoma City at -8.6% and Cleveland at 6.2%.

These regional variations highlight how Super Bowl food costs can differ across the country, influenced by local economic factors.

Super Bowl Party Outlook ... A Win for Shoppers?

For the first time in recent memory, the cost of throwing a Super Bowl party has dropped. With staple snacks like tortilla chips, guacamole, and salsa seeing big price declines, fans might finally feel like they’re getting a break from inflation. However, the rising costs of beer, potato chips, and colas show that not all products are following the same trend.

Will these lower prices hold throughout 2025, or is this just a temporary timeout in inflation? Keep up with the Datasembly Grocery Price Index for the latest insights!
